Bears Paw Quilting Class

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Busy ladies, working hard. We had a great time! And at least half of us fell in love with a line a fabric that  Bear’s Paw is now carrying – Flowers of the Sun (J. Windsor, South Sea Imports) Below is what I couldn’t resist. I can’t speak for the rest of the ladies!

Been teaching a Lot of Machine Quilting Lately

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Lots of quilting going on at The Little Country Shoppe in Middletown, Delaware

and Chicks -n- Stitches in Dover, Delaware. this week.

Very talented ladies in these pictures!I think just about everyone found a favorite free-motion design by the end of the day.

More to come because Friday we’ll be doing the same at Bear’s Paw.

Cool Website

Monday, July 26th, 2010

As I roll into a week of lots of machine quilting classes in a row, I am happy to have discovered this wonderful website! Leah Day demonstrates several HUNDRED free motion quilting designs right on her website! Many are quite creative. She has challenged herself to come up with 365 designs. Please check out her site. Her video tutorials are wonderful! Her quilting is superb! And yes, its all done on a domestic machine!

Airing the Quilts

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

This new old house of ours is a little stuffy and my quilts tend to smell like it. I probably smell like it too…  I’ve got a class to teach tomorrow so I thought I’d hang some quilts I was taking as samples out to freshen up – hope they smell fresh and clean tomorrow!!! If it works, maybe I’ll try it on me!

This is a far as I got!

Took George Siciliano’s how-to class for miniature quilts. His work is fantastic. I don’t think its going to be for me.

Binding update

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Half-way through the binding on this one – just didn’t want you to think I wasn’t keeping on keeping on.

Another one finished!!

Friday, July 16th, 2010

And in plenty of time for Christmas! The Wreath blocks were part of an exchange – lots and lots of little pieces!

Still binding!

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Have less than one side of a big quilt to go – should finish that this afternoon – then on to another one…

Binding away here!

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Just finished binding on a couple of class samples – still have lots more quilts waiting for binding. I can’t seem to keep up! I may have to  just sit and bind for days on end – hope the TV and movie schedules will be entertaining enough to keep me on task! Binding is my least favorite thing about quilting – to sit and do it all day today will be especially difficult since  I came up with all sort of new quilts in my head this morning while trekking around the neighborhood AND I’ve got a free software demo waiting on my computer for me to play with – gonna finally get some of my original long-arm patterns drafted and sell-able after I master this program.  Not enough time in the day – or week – or month!

Yet another Tessellating Tree – (got another waiting on binding too!)

My fourth Machine Quilting 101 sampler – its a popular class! This one is heading back to Seminole Sampler tomorrow.

Starry Block of the Month Assembly and Border Construction

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Wow – the 10th of the  month almost slipped away from me. I am so glad I remembered the date! Our middle son and his very drooly dog have been here for a few weeks and thrown me completely off kilter! He’s sleeping til noon and his dog isn’t.  I can really gross you out by telling you that is pretty necessary to wear shoes in the house with that dog – he drips! He steals loaves of bread! He chases the cat every chance he gets. My son tells me I’ll get used to it – what does he know – he’s sleeping through half of it!

Any way – here’s the last installment of the Starry Block of the Month – Putting the whole thing together!!! I’m hoping to have my Brown and Tan version together by September – that’s my goal so lets see if I can make it. I have really been stalling on the center applique block – haven’t really touched it!  So lets see how well I do with this self-imposed  deadline!  Don’t forget to send me pictures of your quilts. I’d love to post them right here in my blog for everyone to see!
